Chairman’s Chat Q2 2019

Spring is in the air!

BITUG is proud to be hosting this year the first annual European NonStop Boot Camp (ETBC) in my (near) home city of Edinburgh between May 13-15. The last time BITUG hosted a large conference was the eBITUG held in London in 2017. That was a great success and feedback from all was extremely positive and was of course helped by CSP’s evening at The Shard. So we have a lot to live up to. However, Edinburgh is a fascinating city full of old architecture and Scottish charm. It’s the inspiration for JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books and for good reason. Together, the BITUG committee have put together a great event. It encompasses two full days of user, HPE and vendor presentations, Keynotes and networking with your fellow Nonstoppers. We kick it off with a long standard NonStop tradition – the Beer Bust – on the Monday evening at the BrewDog Pub next door to Sheraton Hotel, the venue for the event. After a busy day of presentations on Tuesday we invite you to join us for a Taste of Scotland Gala Dinner at The Hub just next to Castle. A fun-filled evening of great food, wine and entertainment in true Scottish style (kilts not compulsory but welcomed J)

We are also excited to announce our Keynote speaker for Tuesday, Mr Justin Wren. He’s a very successful ex-MMA fighter who suffered depression and addiction early in his career but turned this around and ended up in The Congo where he brought hope and life to some 1,500 desperate forgotten people. Come and here his inspirational story – Fight for the forgotten – and purchase a signed copy of his book too.

None of this would be possible without the financial backing of our vendor sponsors of course, including HPE Corporate and Intel, so Thanks in particular to them.

You definitely don’t want to miss this! Go to our website for more details at: www.bitug.com/etbc-2019

Of course, the main purpose of all Boot Camps is to bring fellow NonStop professionals and those interested in NonStop together to network with their peers, hear latest news from vendors and HPE as well as to hear what other users are doing with their NonStop platforms.  That’s the whole purpose of BITUG too – to create a forum where like-minded NonStop people can network and interact with one another. We exist for you, the user community, so we welcome all feedback and suggestions for future SIG’s or events. Please email me personally at Collin.yates @ bitug.com.

Hope to welcome you in Edinburgh next month!

If you are interested in joining the BITUG Committee, please get in contact with us via website or my email below.

BITUG is a non-profit user group – one of the largest NonStop user groups worldwide – brought to you by a very dedicated committee made up of users and vendors like yourselves. Without the support of you the users, the vendor community (our sponsors) and of course HPE we could not exist. Thank you all.

We’ll also deliver a Little SIG, single-day event as usual in London in December. We’ll announce the date, agenda, location etc. in due course.

I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you all that membership to BITUG is FREE for NonStop users and very reasonably priced for organisations and vendors. If you know someone involved in NonStop and not yet a member, please do get them to join by going to our website join link: https://www.bitug.com/join/.

We welcome members from all over the world and all members will receive at least 2 x Newsletters full of NonStop news from HPE and vendors each year, free attendance to BIG SIG and Little SIG’s as well as other announcements and freebies.

We also welcome any and all feedback, ideas, suggestions etc., anything which you think will benefit the NonStop community. Please feel free to drop me a line at collin.yates @ bitug.com at any time.

So without further ado, on behalf of myself and the committee, we hope to see as many of you as possible at our ETBC next month!

Many thanks,

Collin Yates
