About BITUG
About BITUG
  • BITUG is a volunteer run, non-profit making organisation.
  • Founded in 1984, BITUG is the largest Tandem user group outside of the USA. We are one of the most active of the world's tandem user groups.
  • Membership is open to all users of the Tandem / Himalaya range of systems in the British Isles.
  • BITUG is an affiliated member group of ITUG - the International Tandem user group.
  • We are proud of the fact that we maintain complete independence from HP (Tandem) whilst continuing a close working relationship.
  • BITUG is run by an annually elected committee drawn from membership. Names of all the current committee members are included in the committee section of this web site.
  • We provide a program of meetings as requested by the members. Each year we try to hold at least four one-day special interest group meetings (SIGs) covering various technical issues, we also hold a two day Annual conference which covers many items and also includes the election of the committee.
Benefit
  • Access to exchange information with HP (Tandem) users across the British Isles.
  • Early access to information on HP (Tandem) developments.
  • Access to exchange information with senior HP executives.
  • Access to a powerful peer group of Tandem users across the British Isles to influence HP's strategic and product direction.
  • Presentations from users, HP and from members of the HP Alliance.
  • A regular full colour newsletter including detailed reports of past events, forthcoming events and announcements in the HP / Tandem Business arena.
  • A web site dedicated to BITUG.
The functions of BITUG
  • Co-ordinates user response to developments affecting HP Tandem users.
  • Provides a focus for the representation of British Tandem user interests internationally.
  • Convenes meetings for members to share Tandem related technical information and HP Tandem strategic information.
  • Hosts special interest groups (SIGs) to provide a forum for specialists in topics of shared interest, for example: systems management, security, contingency, etc.
Application for membership
  • Membership during the first year is free of charge.
  • Upon application, we will confirm your membership and send an invoice in the January of the year following your registration.
  • The cost of membership is £350 for corporate members (entitling up to 6 names and addresses to be placed on the BITUG Mailing list) or £110 for individual consultants.
  • The fees cover the cost of running the Special Interest Group meetings, production of the newsletter, running an annual conference in the UK and general costs incurred running the group.
