Welcome to BITUG. THE User
Group for HP NonStop Systems.
Updated 18th January

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Firstly, in my inaugural Chairman's chat, I would like to wish all BITUG members
and the committee a healthy, wealthy and happy 2010, both to you and your families.
Also a special thank you to Neil Barnes, our outgoing Chairman, for his excellent service during 2009 and his continued
and active support on the BITUG committee as we move forward in 2010.
Also, my thanks to Richard Farrow for taking the Vice Chair position this year, to Sean Bicknell for continuing as
Treasurer and to Iain Liston-Brown, for accepting and facing his second year as our HP liaison committee member.
Indeed, my sincere thanks to all the committee members, without whom BITUG could not operate. It is worth remembering
that everyone on the BITUG committee are un-paid volunteers that simply have a passion for the HP NonStop platform
(that which we more affectionately refer to as the Tandem! ).
And so for BITUG in 2010 - once again we have a full agenda for the year, the envy of other NonStop users and
user groups throughout the world.
The first BITUG event to watch out for this year is the Modernisation SIG on Wednesday 17th February.
Details will be available soon on this website but be sure to keep the date free in your diaries.
A full list of BITUG 2010 activities will also be found on this site very soon.
After another year of well attended SIG's and the very successful BigSIG in December, held at the
prestigeous Institute of Directors building in London, we have had several requests from new companies about
becoming BITUG members. It is apparent that NonStop vendors are increasingly looking towards the local regional
user groups as a valuable route to market and that the NonStop user community view the local groups as a valuable
source of news and information.
In 2009 we added a BITUG Twitter link for members and more recently we have added a BITUG group on LinkedIn.
In 2010 we will continue with two BITUG Newsletters, Spring and Autumn editions - the Spring edition should be in the
post to members by the end of April.
Behind the scenes , the committee are already making arrrangements for SIG's throughout the year and following the
successful introduction of the "end of year BigSIG" two years ago, plans are already being discussed for a 2010 BigSIG
for December.
One of the things I am keen to promote in 2010 is more member feedback - I want to be absolutely sure that we are delivering
what our members want. So please, if you have views, advice, comments on BITUG or anything we are doing, feel free to
e-mail me at chairman@BITUG.com. I will ensure that we add a "members feedback review" to the agenda of the regular
committee meetings.
Once again a happy new year to all. Needless to say - if a certain lager manufacturer made NonStop user groups,
it would most definitely adopt The British Isles Tandem User Group form:
BITUG, probably the Best Tandem User Group in the World!
