Welcome to BITUG. THE User Group for HP NonStop Systems.
Updated 24th June 2008
Pot. Kettle. Black. I confess. In past years I have often chastised Chairmen for failing to update this page frequently enough. This is my first update since January. So sorry to past Chairmen and sorry for keeping you, our members, in the dark.
We have already this year held SIG meetings on Operations/System Management and on Security/Risk, plus provided a repeat of the hugely popular Education Day on "S to Integrity".
On 9th July we have our next SIG in London, looking at "Platform Futures". We look at hardware and software roadmaps, there'll be an opportunity to "get interactive" with a Q&A type forum and we'll also review announcements and info from the the HP Technology Forum in Las Vegas. It promises to be a popular day, so book the date now and see you there !
Looking further ahead, the plans for our "Big SIG" are crystallizing.
On the first day (3rd December) we'll hold an Education Day at Wood St, on Performance Analysis - but updated to include the NonStop on Blades technology just announced.
The next day will see a Super SIG held at Trinity House, near Tower Hill. We will have several threads all very forward looking, with just a few backward references to the 30 years of "Tandem in the UK" that we celebrate this year.
To further whet your appetites, we are negotiating to hold a social evening on the evening of 3rd December with another NonStop oriented group - more on this as things progress.
Some good news is that we have welcomed Stuart Taylor of TCM Solutions to the committee. He has already started to contribute to our efforts and has shown a real willingness to get "stuck in" - thanks Stuart.
We haven't yet got a photo of Stuart on our Contacts page, so if you want to know what a volunteer looks like you'll have to come to the next SIG.
The NonStop User Group world is changing, as witnessed by the recent formation of Connect from a merger of ITUG and other platform based bodies. How this affects us will become clear over time, but one thing that won't change is that all of our committee are firmly focussed on providing the best level of service that we can to our membership.
Finally, I must thank my committee members for all their hard work, thank HP for the help that they continue to provide and thank you for supporting BITUG, the Best RUG in the ITUG world!
